Sashank Kasiraju

Sashank Kasiraju is a final year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Houston. Under the supervision of Prof. Lars C. Grabow he applies first-principle based computational chemistry techniques to discover, screen and investigate novel catalytic materials for applications in bio-oil upgrade, waste water treatment and electrocatalytic water splitting. He obtained his B. Tech and M. Tech in Chemical Engineering at the Osmania University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India. His research interests also include Machine Learning, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Process Engineering. For his research on the catalysis for bio-oil upgrade he was awarded the 2017 Kokes Award at 25th North American Catalysis Society (NACS) meeting and the AIChE CRE Division travel award during the AIChE Annual Meeting, Nov 2015.
