Rachel B. Getman is the Murdoch Family Endowed Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Clemson University. She was the first woman to be tenured (in 2017) and promoted to full professor (in 2022) in her department since its inception in 1917. Dr. Getman’s research group uses molecular simulations to learn about phenomena at fluid/solid interfaces. Dr. Getman holds a CAREER award from the NSF, a Clemson University Board of Trustees Award for Excellence, and a Professor of Affordable Learning Award from the South Carolina Affordable Learning Group. She presently serves as the Area Co-Chair for the Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Division of AIChE and as a Member-At-Large for the CATL Division ACS. Dr. Getman earned her BS from Michigan Technological University and her PhD from the University of Notre Dame. She also did a postdoc at Northwestern University before starting her independent career at Clemson University.
