Nathaniel S. Hansen

I earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 2007 and am expecting to graduate with a Ph.D. from Cornell University in December of 2011. During this time, I have gathered a breadth of experience working in polymer and inorganic synthesis and characterization geared toward controlling nanostructures in a variety of geometries and morphologies, subsequently applying them to biomass, photovoltaic, and battery energy applications among others. My primary focus over the last few years has been generating a diverse method to bond metal and ceramic precursors to water soluble polymers, subsequently electrospinning them and crystallizing the nanofiber into purely inorganic nanofibers of very exciting morphology with diverse applications currently being pursued.
