Dr. Maobing Tu earned his PhD degree from University of British Columbia (Canada) in 2007. He joined Auburn University in Forest Products Laboratory/Center for Bioenergy and Bioproducts in2008, and was promoted to associate professor in 2013. He received a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award in 2013. His research is centered on the development of cost-effective processes for producing biofuels, chemicals and biomaterials from lignocellulosic biomass. Specifically, he focuses on the interface between biomass processing chemistry (BPC) and bioprocess engineering in biochemical conversion route. His research approach is to use a combination of computational study and experimental determination to understand the molecular structure-activity relationship of biomass-derived compounds in bioconversion process.
