Luis Torrens Sotomayor

Luis is a Ph.D. student whose research focus is based on manufacturing processes within Pharmaceutical Engineering. As an undergraduate, he conducted undergraduate research related to the process of high batch and continuous wet shear granulation both experimental and simulation approaches. Luis had the opportunity to work for Lilly del Caribe as a Process Engineer of the Compression and Coating process and for Stryker as an Engineer Intern - Capstone in their pickling and passivation processes. His current studies are focused on manufacturing dried whole Puerto Rican sweet potato and breadfruit particles for their applications in tablet manufacturing. He is also the Co-Founder and Student Advisor of the Pharmaceutical Engineering Student Society, Outreach Leader at the Center for Pharmaceutical Engineering Development and Learning, and Alumni, Advisor and Engineering Facilitator of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
