Li Chen

Li Chen is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University. Li is working with Professor Michael S. Wong, who is the department chair and has 15+ years’ experience in catalysis and reaction engineering. Under his supervision, Li has been developing a more efficient process for value-added chemicals production from the thermochemical process called pyrolysis. Her research uses a wide range of chemical engineering and chemistry tools including catalysis, kinetic analysis, organic chemistry, reaction engineering, conceptual process design, modeling of transport phenomena and theoretic chemistry (DFT simulation). During her PhD training, Li received Kobayashi Fellowship in Chemical Engineering for the best PhD thesis proposal, and National Science Foundation Innovation-Corps (NSF I-Corp) grant for commercialization potential exploration for her patent-pending technology. Li’s great passion is creating solutions with real-world impact.
