John Anderson is on the faculty of Chemical Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). On August 1, 2015, he stepped down from the presidency of IIT after serving eight years in the office. Previous leadership positions include provost/executive vice president at Case Western Reserve University, and dean of engineering and chair of chemical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and serves on its Council, is a member of the National Science Board, and serves on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University and the Chicago Council on Science and Technology. His technical interests are in colloid dynamics, membrane separations, electrokinetic phenomena and bioengineering. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
