Bryan G. Alamani is currently a Ph.D. chemical engineering student at UH. His research focuses on the use of growth modifiers of pathological crystals, in particular, calcium oxalate which a primary component of human kidney stones. This project applies principles of crystallization to understand kinetics and thermodynamics of calcium oxalate growth in the presence of modifiers which typically inhibit growth. The culmination of work deals is aimed at identifying potent inhibitors that can be alternative therapeutics for stone diseases. Bryan received his B.S. and M.S in ChE from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He was awarded scholarships from National Taiwan University (Taiwan, ROC), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (South Korea) and Panasonic (Philippines and Japan). He previously worked as engineer for Air Liquide (Philippines) and Europ-Continents Philippines.
