Brendan Bleasdale

Brendan Bleasdale has over 40 years’ experience in the power generation industry initially in the UK Nuclear Power Sector where he held a range of Senior Management Positions including Corporate Nuclear Safety Manager, Acting Nuclear-Plant Site Director, and Corporate Engineering Delivery Manager. He was a member of the Technical Panel which developed the 7-point IAEA International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) for categorising Nuclear Incidents. For the past 10 years he has worked for Contact Energy in New Zealand initially as Principal Engineering Manager and currently as the Company’s Engineering Authority where he has led and promoted Process Safety awareness and improvement both within the company and across the sector. His work in Process Safety was recognised when he was a finalist for New Zealand Engineer of the Year in 2017. Brendan is a Chartered Member of the Nuclear Institute, Engineering New Zealand, and AIChE.
