Wood-like products 3D printed with lab-created gel

Researchers at MIT used cells isolated from a plant to create a gel-based medium that in turn was used in a 3D printer to create custom-formed woodlike products. The method holds the potential to replace wood as a construction material, with the added ability to adjust for weight and strength.
