Team touts lower-cost, safe plasma tech for displays

Researchers at Australia's University of Sydney report developing a plasma-generated, hybrid nanocomposite material that could be an alternative to indium in manufacturing display screens for computers, self-dimming windows, smartphones and windshield glass. "What we have created is a manufacturer's dream: a technology that removes the need for indium and instead uses a plasma-engineered, three-layered structure that is much cheaper to produce," says Behnam Akhavan, a leader of the university team.
