Startup uses bacteria to build biobased tiles

Biomason, a startup in Research Triangle Park, N.C., has developed a way to harness bacteria to grow biobased tiles that can be used as an alternative to traditional cement. "What is interesting about the Biomason technology is that they are using microbes," said Mattias Bodin of H&M Group, which plans to use the sustainable tiles in its stores.
