Marathon, Phillips 66 get nod for refinery conversions

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in California cleared Marathon Petroleum and Phillips 66 to proceed with the conversion of their respective Martinez and Rodeo petroleum refineries into renewable fuel production plants. Marathon's Martinez refinery could begin operations in the second half of 2022, with initial production capacity of 260 million gallons per year of renewable diesel, while Phillips 66's RodeoRenewed project will produce 800 million gallons per year of renewable diesel, renewable gasoline and sustainable aviation fuel starting in early 2024.
