Baton Rouge, La. (BRPROUD) — ExxonMobil has donated $90,000 to the Capital Area United Way’s COVID-19 Community Relief Fund.

The donation will be used to help people considered ALICE — asset limited, constrained and employed.

“ExxonMobil has been a generous corporate partner of Capital Area United Way for many years and has once again stepped up to aid the community when they needed it most,” Capital Area United Way President and CEO George Bell said. “Right now, the needs in our community are great, but ExxonMobil’s contribution of $90,000 to COVID relief in our community will enable us to aid the ALICE population that has been severely impacted by the coronavirus as well as continue to serve all members of the community through the United Way’s Louisiana 2-1-1 service.”

A large part of the company’s donation will help people suffering food insecurities amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the funds will help offer mental health assistance related to the virus in North Baton Rouge, according to Capital Area United Way Communications and Marketing Manager Bryce R. Benzine.
