EPA PFAS proposal to draw a wave of legal action

The Environmental Protection Agency's new proposal to regulate six types of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances marks its first attempt to regulate drinking water contaminants in more than 25 years and, once finalized, could be met with a wave of lawsuits from the chemical industry and other stakeholders. The American Chemistry Council sued the EPA last year over health advisories for two substances and is questioning the scientific basis of the new proposal.
