Distillates demand to drive growth in US refining sector

With domestic motor fuels demand in decline and distillate margins well above the five-year average, US refiners are expected to double down on diesel and biofuels production for overseas markets, building on last year's record-setting distillate fuel exports. Refined Fuels Analytics Managing Director John Auers says gasoline-focused refineries "will be most at risk in the future" due to decreasing gasoline demand per capita in the US and predicts that middle distillates demand will grow by 32% by 2045.
