China unveils plans to approve 3 biotech corn varieties

China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced last week that it will approve three additional varieties of biotech corn crops developed by local companies as part of the country's policy to ensure food security through the advancement of breeding crops using biotechnology. The three varieties for approval include China National Tree Seed Corp and China Agricultural University's ND207, Hangzhou Ruifeng Biotech's Zheda Ruifeng 8 and Beijing Dabeinong Biotechnology's DBN3601T, according to a notice posted on the agriculture ministry's website.
