CasMINI system akin to a Swiss knife of CRISPR

Stanford University scientists have developed CasMINI, a smaller CRISPR-Cas9 system that is expected to make cell-engineering more efficient and effective as described in research published in the journal Molecular Cell. "If people sometimes think of Cas9 as molecular scissors, here we created a Swiss knife containing multiple functions," said Stanley Qi, senior study author.
