Biotechnology to boost sustainable fishing

AquaBounty began developing biotech salmon over 25 years ago, and this year they have been allowed to sell the product commercially through an initial order from Samuels and Son Seafood of 5 metric tons, and AquaBounty is developing another fish, the tilapia. The use of genetic engineering in fish species will boost sustainability in fishing because the practice will reduce carbon emissions and become a source of nourishment to the world's growing population as biotech salmon varieties grow faster than wild varieties, writes Steven Cerier.
