Nist Special Session

Chair(s)

Amis, E. J., National Institute of Standards and Technology

The mission of the Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory (MSEL) of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness in the development and use of materials, by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology. Following this mission, we are organizing an informal discussion session focusing specifically on the measurements needs for sustainable materials applications. We plan to take this opportunity to share with our ICOSSE colleagues our vision and plan for materials metrology and the needs for standards for the applications of materials in various facets of sustainability. The session will start with a brief introduction to NIST and the materials laboratory, followed by interactive presentations and discussions with scientists from NIST and ICOSSE participants. Some light refreshments will be provide by the conference organization in keeping with the informal setting for this discussion and the intended broad participation. Please join us to share your comments and priorities.
