Henry & Melinda Brown Endowment for Minority Chemical Engineers

To pay lasting tribute to a pioneering advocate and mentor to the underrepresented community for nearly five decades, the AIChE Foundation and Minority Affairs Committee (MAC) have renamed the MAC Endowment Fund in honor of Henry T. Brown.

The special thing about recognition as a MAC Scholar is that the award was directly given to me. It provided financial flexibility to pay for books, lab fees, and other expenses that come from being a student. — Carlos Prieto-Perez, two-time MAC Scholar and Process Engineer, Merck

The Henry T. and Melinda C. Brown Endowment for the Education of Underrepresented Minority Chemical Engineers is a global effort to promote greater inclusiveness in AIChE and the profession by providing an endowment to support, in perpetuity, the education and training of minority and underrepresented chemical engineers. The endowment’s goal is to fund up to 30 MAC Scholars annually. With your help, we will achieve that goal and open the doors of opportunity, year after year, for brilliant young minds.

The endowment supports the Doing a World of Good campaign priority,  Attracting and Retaining the Best and the Brightest, to advance the chemical engineering profession for the future.
