Energy Initiative In mid-2010, AIChE formed the Center for Energy Initiatives (CEI). The Center helps engineers and scientists, working from multiple perspectives, to network, cross-fertilize and integrate ideas to advance energy efforts across the board. The Center has already undertaken research and education projects, including the coordination of a significant carbon management effort for leading engineering societies. We have also made awards for K-12 energy education, developed a “Speakers Academy” of energy experts, and are developing energy education modules for the undergraduate chemical engineers. In addition, work is underway on an inter-society, inter-disciplinary project to develop energy metrics for consistent comparison of diverse energy options. Donations made toward the Center for Energy Initiatives helps engineers and scientists, working from multiple perspectives, to network, cross-fertilize and integrate ideas to advance energy efforts across the board.
