(54bg) Using Perusall to Enhance Student Learning of Particle Technology at Graz University of Technology

Perusall is a digital platform that allows students to collaboratively annotate textbooks, papers, and other similar classroom reading assignments. In order to enhance student learning, Perusall was introduced to help teach Particle Technology at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz, Austria). At Graz University of Technology, two Particle Technology courses exist in sequence; the first course is focused on fundamentals topics, whereas the second course is focused more on applications and separations topics. Approximately 60-75 students are registered for each course. For both courses, Perusall was used to assign reading materials, which were primarily journal articles that complemented the course topics. Although these assignments were non-compulsory due to national requirements, students were asked to use Perusall to read and annotate the course readings. Student participation and input regarding this digital approach to learning was recorded. This poster will highlight how Perusall was implemented in both Particle Technology courses as a tool to enhance student learning.
