Kalman, H. - Presenter, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
Powder Technology is an area of engineering, which is difficult to explain and to teach from various reasons. One of the major reasons is lack of sufficient scientific understanding and analytical solutions. Mainly for such a cases, visualization and lab experience may bring the students into a better understanding of the basic phenomena affecting the complex behavior of powders. In this presentation we will discuss shortly on a few lab exercises experienced by our undergraduate students taking the elective course entitled “Introduction to Powder Technology”. However, we will discuss in more details three visualization apparatuses. Two of them already used and one is a future system. The two existing systems relate to silo flow and fluidized beds. The future system is called “A Dynamic Wall Picture” and will be explained in the presentation.
