Investigation on Bubble Characteristics in a Gas Fluidized Bed: Evaluation of Different Drag Models

In this work, a 3-D calculation model coupled with different drag models was established to investigate the bubble behaviors in the gas-solid fluidized bed, and the numerical simulation was carried out based on the TFM method. The first aim of this study is to investigate the effect of particle size and gas velocity on bubble size and bubble rise velocity. Then the simulation results calculated by different drag models were compared with the value of van Lare’s experiment and Davidson’s correlations. By the comparison with experiment and theory, the most accurate drag model for predicting bubble behaviors in bubbling bed will be acquired.
