Bergquist, G. - Presenter, BHS Sonthofen
This presentation will discuss filter aid technology for clarification filtration processes. The presentation begins with the basics of the different types of filter aids, grades of filter aids, and filter media selection. The methods application of filter aid and some of the filter technology uses in filter aid processes are also described.

The presentation continues with a benchtop scale study on a method to optimize body feed concentration in relation to suspended solids content. Various concentrations of filter aid and untreated suspended solids were filtered and the rates measured. The presentation concludes with a recommendation for an optimal starting point for body feed to suspended solids ratio.
