In order to get further insight into the characteristics of swirling flow in the gas flow field in the cyclone,The tangential velocity fluctuation characteristics of swirling flow in the cyclone were studied based on measured by Hot Wire Anemometry (HWA). The results show that the real tangential velocity fluctuates obviously in the center region of the cyclone, however, near the wall of the cyclone, the real tangential velocity has a little fluctuation. Furthermore, the real velocity has a basic frequency in the cyclone, which is mainly depend on the tangential velocity in the vortex. Also the amplitude in the center region is bigger than that near the wall. The real tangential velocity fluctuation indicates that there exists an instability of swirling flow in the cyclone, which results in the rotation center of the swirling flow deviating from the geometric center of the cyclone and produces the quasi-periodic oscillation of swirling flow.
