(63a) Design and Development of a Supercritical Fluid Processing System for Conversion of Used Cooking Oil to Biodiesel

Authors

Sunol, A. K. - Presenter, University of South Florida
The design project involves collection of waste cooking oil from the University of South Florida and vicinity, conversion of waste cooking oil using a novel catalyst-free supercritical fluid processing facility, making novelty soap from the by-product glycerin, and utilizing the biodiesel in powering the University bus system that utilizes B20. The processing time is 15 minutes and allows a mobile solar powered unit. The design involves scale-up, heat integration, safety and environmental impact analysis.
