Pharmaceutical product development is the act of selecting and transforming a molecule to a valued medicine subject to patient, regulatory, manufacturing and business requirements. Organic Chemists, Molecular Biologists, Chemical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Analytical Chemists work together to develop the product design and its critical quality attributes, the process design and its various critical process parameters to deliver the right medicine in the right presentation with the right product & process knowledge to the right patient at the right time. The digitization of the underlying data is a monumental task, and requires a carefully conceived strategy. This talk will articulate the business drivers for this digital transformation, the three key elements of the strategy, namely Data Integration, Data Structure, and Analytics, and the progress on the implementation plan within Lilly.
