(143b) Running the Gamut of Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis Methods

Authors

Hazard identification and risk analysis (HIRA) methodologies, including those used for process hazard analyses (PHAs), run the gamut from a basic hazard identification exercise all the way to a fully quantitative risk analysis. This tutorial will give a bird’s-eye view of these techniques, highlighting similarities, differences, inter-relationships, and discussing the appropriate application of each. The tutorial will show how identification and analysis of incident scenarios is at the heart of all risk analysis techniques, whether the method of choice is a What-If Analysis, a HAZOP Study, a LOPA, or a quantitative risk analysis.
