(118b) We Built a (Process Safety) Ship – Who Is Going to Sail It in 5 Years?

Authors

3M has recognized the criticality of ongoing personnel development in a public sustainability goal of “100% participation in employee development programs to advance individual and organizational capabilities”. One input to an individual’s development plan is a company-developed structure of competency models for each major job function at 3M. Competencies are defined as a set of behaviors that can be identified, measured and developed. Defining and communicating global competencies enables shared understanding of the capabilities valued by 3M. An overview of the 3M competency structure will be compared to the CCPS “Guidelines to Process Safety Competency Requirements”.
