Industrial flares are commonly used in the chemical industry to burn and destroy waste process materials and off-spec product. Excessive flaring can have a negative impact on the environment as large amounts of CO, CO2, NOx, and volatile organic compounds are released. It also reduces productivity and increases operating costs as flared materials are not converted into useful product. As companies move towards more sustainable chemical processes and to meet increasing demands of regulatory bodies, it is necessary to develop new methods for reducing industrial flare emissions. This session will focus on new technologies and strategies that help to meet this goal.
