(78d) The Current Hot Button Issues in Domestic Professional Licensing

Amos Holt, a past president of ASME and current VP for Environmental, Safety and Quality Systems will review the issues currently receiving the greatest attention by the PE community which includes all of the various state and territorial licensing boards, the National Council for Examiners of Engineers and Surveyors as well as the numerous professional society stakeholders and educational organizations and societies. The discussuion will touch on the Model Law and its currect sections on the Masters or Equivalent (MOE) requirements as well as Industrial Exemptions. The various positions of key players covered including the position of a consortium of professional societies called "Licensing that Works" or LTW will be summarized. This group includes both ASME and AIChE and represents about 240,000 engineers thtroughout the world. Amos will tell you what you will likely be hearing more about in the next few years and how it might affect both current PE licensees and prospective PE licensees.
