Over the yearsThe U.S. EPA and CARB have instituted increasingly stringent emissions standards.  Both of these institutions have jurisdiction over mobile and non-mobile sources of emissions.  The one of increasing interest for consumers is how these regulations affect the fuel efficiency of automobiles.  Additionally there are contrasts between critical components of emissions in various parts of the world.  As these sometimes competing standards come into play there is often a battle between trading fuel efficiency for reduced emissions. This talk will feature a brief overview of the emissions types and their trade-offs for fuel efficiency, also a review of increasing emissions regulations, and  a look into how these regulations are tested.
