Few chemical engineers have spent as much time at as many frontiers as Professor Karl T. Chuang. Of his 200 refereed papers, 300 conference papers and 40 patents, approximately half regarded catalysis and the other half regarded separations. His distillation/absorption research addressed hydraulics, efficiency, modelling, CFD, intelligent design and catalytic distillation. Obviously, trays and packings were studied. Less obviously, trayed packed columns and packed trayed columns were studied. Appreciable, and important, data from the excellent University of Alberta laboratory were released to the public. This paper presents the separations-related bibliography and highlights of Professor Chuang's amazing career.
