Regulations, Benzene and Sulfur Removal

Chair(s)

Co-chair(s)

Olsen, T., Emerson Process Management

There have been recent changes in fuel specifications in the US, EU, and around the world like ULSD, ultra-low sulfur gasoline, and benzene reduction. Many countries are now evaluating or have already implemented regulations to include ethanol and/or biodiesel into the gasoline and diesel pools. Ethanol consumption in the US is expected to increase as a result of the EISA implemented in 2007, and the EU will mandate a certain percentage of transportation fuels containing renewables. This session would like to address how refiners tackled these challenges. We are looking for “meeting changes in regulations” presentations about options, solutions, and why a particular solution was chosen. Please submit an abstract for approval.
