This paper will present all the technical concepts, designs, full scale LNG testing, and applications of the cryogenic submerged electric motor pumps installed on the Regasification Vessels equipped with Nikkiso Cryo LNG pumps. These pump units have been selected for all the Excelerate Energy ships as well as on the Project Neptune for Hoegh LNG. These pump designs have been proven on the Gulf Gateway, where the pumps successfully operated during Hurricane Katrina
The unique installation of the pumping elements that assure rotor dynamic stability when the high speed units are operating under the severe yaw, pitch, and roll accelerations of the ships attached to a buoy during rough weather conditions. Also a description of properly protecting the pump bearings from brinnelling damage while the ships are underway. The presentation includes a full description and video of land based dynamic motion tests of operating LNG pumps and vaporizers.
