Hydrogen Production I
Wednesday, April 9, 2008 - 8:30am to 8:55am
A new and patented process is described for hydrogen production from liquid fuel using supercritical water. In this process, hydrogen is produced in a single step , even from various fuel sources. The single step process reaches almost perfect conversion and more than 90% yield. In addition, one catalyst appears effective for various liquid fuels. Meanwhile the small amount of sulfur contamination appears not to affect the catalyst activity during the period of operation. In the described process, hydrogen is generated not only from liquid hydrocarbons but a greater quantity is generated from the water. As a consequence, CO2 emission is greatly reduced for the same amount of hydrogen production from conventional hydrogen generation processes. This new process for hydrogen production has a great potential to be used in various scenarios, such as fuel cells for stationary, automotive or portable applications and also large scale hydrogen production.
