To Toll or Not to Toll: That Is the Question
Wednesday, April 25, 2007 - 4:10pm to 4:35pm
Toll manufacturing can provide significant time and capital cost savings, if a qualified toll manufacturer is chosen. The proper methodology is essential to evaluate if they can perform effectively and reliably, based on quantifiable measures, past performance and present capabilities. The issues and concepts addressed in the evaluation of tolling facilities are addressed here. Using a weighting methodology, the compliance of all manufacturers is then evaluated and compared. This proprietary approach can help the owner in evaluating in-house production versus tolling. It can provide guidelines in developing a complete evaluation procedure for a specific purpose, or for general application. This methodology can help the toller in developing the documentation and procedures necessary to comply with the owner's requirements. Fluor can help align the parties together and facilitate the implementation of a successful toll manufacturing process.
