Varman, A. M., Arizona State University

Metabolic engineering is the targeted improvement of the cellular metabolic phenotype using recombinant DNA technology. Sessions in Metabolic Engineering will focus on recent advances in biosynthetic pathway engineering, enzymatic conversion, and engineering of non-model organisms. Sample areas of interest include: production of novel products through pathway engineering; construction and analysis of genome scale models; metabolic flux analysis; synthetic biology, evolutionary techniques and molecular tool development; and application of “omics” tools.
