Introductory Remarks

Having spent almost 40 of the 50 years that Corporate Research has existed working in the materials and catalysis sections, I will provide a personal historical view, by means of videos, of the large number of people from Exxon, Mobil and ExxonMobil that have scientifically and technologically impacted catalysis and reactor engineering. Many of these people have been my teachers and friends and helped shape my life here as well.

We will also describe some of the areas of catalytic materials chemistry where researchers here have made significant impact, ranging from supported metals and bimetallics, solid acids, zeolites and metal sulfides. We can all look forward to the contributions in the next several decades that the younger community of scientists at ExxonMobil will provide.
