Bag filling of different starches was investigated on a production machine and related to the powder properties of the starches. The bag filling machine uses gravity feeding and vibration and de-aeration probes to remove excess air from the plastic bags. Bag filling time is around 10s per bag. The process was scaled down to laboratory scale and tested. The results obtained at laboratory scale were used for prediction of the bag filling on large scale and understanding of the filling and flow mechanisms involved in this production process successfully.

Measurements on production scale and lab scale were done and compared.
