Rare earth elements (REEs) are comprised of the 15 lanthanide elements, plus yttrium, and scandium. The objective of this study was to determine the kinetics of extraction of REEs from various fly ash, ponded ash, bottom ash, and landfill ash samples. Both strong and weak acids were utilized for the batch extractions. An expression for predicting rare earth dissolution rates based on acidity and particle size was derived.
