The nucleation and growth of precipitated silica has been drawing attention. Compared with the hydrolysis reaction, the precipitation of silica is much quicker, so we focused on a millisecond reaction level. In this work, the in-situ measurement was made to follow the initial stage of the formation of silica particles by using Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS). The particle size was obtained as a function of time. The experiment was carried out at different temperatures and mixing conditions, based on which, we combined the kinetic process of nucleation-growth as well as micromixing effects and established a nucleation-growth model of precipitated silica particles.
