(90f) Hybrid Materials for Catalysis and Separations

Authors

Shantz, D. - Presenter, Tulane University
This talk will highlight advances over the last ten years in the synthesis of dendron-OMS and dendron encapsulated nanoparticles on OMS from our lab. After a brief introduction to the system, I will describe a few examples of the diverse problems one can address with these materials, including light gas separations, organocatalysis, and current work in cascade reactions. I will highlight the role of the confined environment of the ligand, and how the textural properties of the hybrid materials under operating conditions often appear quite different from the conditions where porosity is often determined using nitrogen physisorption. The talk will conclude with some future prospects for this space.
