Zeolites have an infinity of three-dimensional structures, on which their physicochemical properties depend, such as properties of cation exchange, adsorption and dehydration, which give them a high applicability in the industry as ion exchangers, molecular sieves and catalysts. The rheological behavior of pastes based on zeolites was assessed. Two formulations were prepared using zeolite type 4A, Y containing attapulgite and alumina as support, respectively. Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and nitric acid were employed as temporal aglomeration agent. Th effect of different dry solid (SS) to moisture on rheological behavior was measured using a controlled rate (CR) rheometer with a vane and cup geometrywith. Rheological models were adjusted to experimental data for each formulation to determine the type of rheological behavior of the pastes. Finally, properties of zeolites such as pore size and acidity were related to the type of rheological behavior of the formulated pastes. Results showed the rheological tests and data analysis were suitable to describe the paste behavior and evolution with shear rates, which are necessary to carry out a forming process such as extrusion.
