The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP) in Oak Ridge, TN is undergoing a dramatic transformation from its historic national security role as a uranium enrichment plant with all of the challenges posed by aging and contaminated facilities. Once-contaminated land and buildings are being repurposed as a multi-use private sector industrial park that will be home to new businesses and include structures commemorating the site’s historic contributions to defense and energy missions as part of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park, as well as large areas placed in conservation.
