(228a) The Drive for Advantaged on-Purpose Propylene

For many years, the materials and chemical industry has pursued economically advantaged alternative routes to on-purpose propylene. The recent investments in shale gas based ethylene production have decreased the availability of co-product propylene from ethylene facilities. The shift in product distributions has improved the opportunity for on-purpose propylene. Moreover, the shale gas boom has provided greater amounts of propane to be used as feedstock for alternative conversion technologies. This talk will discuss various routes for the direct conversion of propane to propylene.
