Biomolecules have surface functionalities that can promote inorganic mineralization at very mild reaction conditions and in non-toxic aqueous solutions. Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and barley striped mosaic virus (BSMV) biotemplates are used to control the shape of the final nanostructures and also the size of the primary metal particles. This presentation will discuss the evolution of research focused on the synthesis of metal coatings on these biotemplates.
