(161a) Practical Aspects of Patent Law for Chemical Engineers

Both chemical engineering and patent law are complicated. Yet the most recent statistics show that over 60,000 patent applications that directly relate to chemical engineering were published worldwide in 2015 alone. Chemical engineers, therefore, should be equipped with a basic understand of patent law. This presentation provides a brief overview of patent law fundamentals, and is followed by a series of case studies highlighting important aspects of patent law for chemical engineers. The presenter will also be available for an open question and answer session after the presentation.
